Devin Watson

Summary & History

Devin Watson grew up in Oceanside, California, and built his game from the ground up.

At El Camino High School, he averaged 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists as a senior, earned Avocado West League Player of the Year, and was named to the all-San Diego Section first team. His team went 27-6 and went 10-0 in conference play. The foundation was set early.

From there, Devin went on to play four seasons of Division I college basketball, splitting his career between the University of San Francisco and San Diego State University. At USF, he earned WCC All-Freshman honors as a first-year player before breaking out as a sophomore in a major way.

He averaged 20.3 points and 4.9 assists per game, ranked 27th nationally in scoring, and earned First Team All-West Coast Conference honors.

His scoring average was one of the top 13 single-season marks in USF program history. After a redshirt year, Devin transferred to San Diego State, where he continued to perform at a high level.

In his junior season with the Aztecs, he averaged 12.2 points and 3.8 assists, led the team in total assists and three-point percentage, and was named to both the Mountain West All-Tournament Team and the Wooden Legacy All-Tournament Team. He is known for his basketball IQ, his ability to make plays under pressure, and his leadership.

His professional career followed. Devin was selected in the 2019 NBA G League Draft by the Erie BayHawks, giving him direct experience training and competing in a professional NBA development environment.

He went on to play in competitive leagues overseas, continuing to develop and perform at a high level as a professional athlete.

Today, Devin brings every layer of that experience into Watz Academy. He understands what it takes to compete at the next level because he has been there. His coaching is built on the same discipline, structure, and attention to detail that carried him from high school courts in San Diego to Division I programs to professional basketball.
