Watz Academy is built on the belief that real development takes a full community behind it. We are always looking for dedicated, knowledgeable individuals who want to contribute to the growth of our athletes in a meaningful and structured way.
If you have a skill, a background, or a passion for youth development and you want to put it to work, there may be a place for you here. We do not take volunteers casually. Everyone who steps into our program in any capacity is expected to show up with the same intention and seriousness that we ask of our athletes.
We welcome volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds. Whether your expertise is on the court, in a classroom, on a track, or in a weight room, there is a way to contribute to what we are building at Watz Academy. What matters most is that you are reliable, knowledgeable in your area, and genuinely invested in the development of young athletes.
If you have a basketball background and want to be directly involved in player development, we are looking for assistant coaches who can support Coach Watson during practices and training sessions. This is a hands-on role. You will be on the floor, working with athletes, running drills, and contributing to the structure of each session. This is not a spectator role. We are looking for individuals who can add real value to the coaching environment and who hold athletes to a high standard.
A competitive youth basketball program doesn't run itself, and the organization that happens behind the scenes is just as important as what happens on the court. If you're someone who enjoys staying organized and keeping things on track, we'd love to have your help with scheduling, roster management, family communications, tournament logistics, and general coordination. This role frees Coach Watson up to focus entirely on developing players.
Keeping a boutique program accessible to the athletes who need it takes real effort and resources, and fundraising is a big part of how we make that happen. We're looking for volunteers to help plan, organize, and execute fundraising initiatives that support both our athletes and day-to-day program operations. Whether your experience is in event planning, community outreach, sponsorship coordination, or general fundraising, there's a real way for you to contribute to the program's future here.
Training harder only gets you so far without the right fuel to support it, and we want our athletes to understand that connection from an early age. We're looking for a qualified person with a background in sports nutrition, dietetics, or a related field to help educate our athletes on proper fueling for performance. Workshops, individual guidance, and family resources are all on the table. If you have the background and want to make an impact, we'd love to hear from you.
Basketball development does not stop at basketball. We are looking for qualified volunteers who can lead structured supplemental sessions in areas that directly support athletic performance on the court. This includes but is not limited to:
If you are a certified trainer, coach, or athlete with expertise in any of these areas and you want to contribute to a serious youth development program, this is a role where you can make a real impact. Sessions would be structured, purposeful, and run in coordination with the overall Watz Academy program calendar.
Volunteers at Watz Academy are held to the same standard as our athletes and coaching staff, because the representation is the same. When you're part of this program in any capacity, you're representing the young athletes we develop and us. That representation carries real expectations.
For those volunteering in roles that bring them into direct contact with our athletes, a background check will likely be part of the requirements.
Volunteering here isn't something you can do halfway. We're not looking for people who want to show up occasionally or who see volunteer work as a passive way to stay connected to basketball. The athletes in this program deserve consistency, and that's the standard we hold for everyone who's part of it.
If you are not in a position to commit to a regular and reliable schedule, this may not be the right fit at this time.
Watz Academy is actively looking for young coaches and interns who want to learn what real player development looks like from the inside. This is not a title. It is an opportunity to be in the gym, work alongside Coach Watson, and build a foundation in coaching and training that most programs cannot offer.
If you are a former player, a college athlete, or someone early in your coaching journey who is hungry to learn, this is the place to develop your craft. You will be around high-level instruction, real competitive environments, and a development system built on structure and intention. What you learn here will carry into every coaching role you take on after this. We are looking for individuals who are:
This is a ground-floor opportunity to grow with a program that is building toward something significant. If that sounds like you, we want to hear from you.
Become a CoachIf you are interested in volunteering with Watz Academy, reach out and tell us a little about yourself, your background, and the area you would like to contribute to. We will follow up to learn more and determine if there is a good fit.
We appreciate every individual who wants to invest their time and energy into the development of our athletes. This program is built one person at a time, and the people behind it matter just as much as the ones on the court.
