Watz Academy group workouts are designed for athletes who want structured, high-level training in a competitive group setting. This is not a casual shoot-around with a coach watching from the sideline.

Every group session at Watz Academy, led by Coach Devin Watson or Watz Academy trainers, is planned, purposeful, and run with the same standard as every other program we offer.

Sessions are built around specific skill development goals and run with the same intentionality and discipline that defines everything we do. Group workouts are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 24 Fitness Carlsbad Mall.

Small group training is for athletes who want the benefits of group competition with a level of coaching attention that is much closer to individual training. This is the elite option for athletes who want more than a regular group session. At 2 to 8 athletes per session, this sits between individual training and standard group workouts in both format and intensity.

What a Session Looks Like

Every session is structured from start to finish. There is no wasted time and no filler.

Coach Watson builds each workout around a specific set of development objectives, and every athlete in the group works through the same intentional progression.

A typical group workout covers:

  • Warm-up and movement preparation
  • Ball handling and guard skill development
  • Finishing at the rim, shot creation, and scoring reads
  • Footwork, pace, and efficiency work
  • Competitive drills and game-speed situations
  • Basketball IQ and decision-making under pressure
  • Breakdown and coaching feedback

Sessions are run at game speed. Athletes are pushed to compete, think, and execute at a higher level every time they step on the floor.

Group Size

Group workouts at 24 Fitness Carlsbad Mall are capped at 8 athletes per session. This keeps the environment competitive and energetic while ensuring every athlete is still getting real development work done. It is not a large clinic. It is not a pickup run. It is a structured training session with a clear purpose and a coach who is locked in from start to finish.

Group workouts are available in Carlsbad, CA. Training sessions will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but as scheduling is based on the Watz Academy team, tournament calendar, and Coach Watson's availability, the days may change.
