Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

At Watz Academy, the trust of our athletes and their families means everything to us, on and off the court. As a boutique, performance-based basketball development program, every relationship we build carries real weight. This Privacy Policy covers what information we collect when you interact with our website or programs, how we use it, and how we keep it protected. Take a moment to read through it, and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Who We Are

Watz Academy is a performance-based basketball development program based in North County San Diego, operating training sessions in Temecula and Carlsbad, CA. Founded and directed by Devin Watson, Watz Academy is built around structured, intentional development for youth and high school athletes. We are not a recreational program. Every interaction with our organization, including how we handle your data, reflects that standard.

Information We Collect

When you register for a program, inquire about training, or contact us through any channel, we may collect the following types of information:

We only collect what we need. We are a small, intentional program, not a data company, and we treat your information accordingly.

How We Use Your Information

The information we collect is used exclusively to operate and improve our programs and communicate with our families. Specifically, we use it to:

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for marketing or commercial purposes. Your information exists to support your athlete's development, and that's it.

Photos and Media

Watz Academy is an active program on social media, and we regularly photograph and film training sessions, skill workouts, games, and tournaments for use on our website and Instagram (@watzacademy). This content is an important part of how we showcase our program, coaching, and athlete development.

By enrolling your athlete in any Watz Academy program, whether a team program or individual training, you consent to the possible use of your athlete's likeness in photos or video for promotional and educational purposes. This includes but is not limited to social media posts, website content, and marketing materials.

If you do not wish for your athlete to be photographed or filmed, please notify us in writing at watzacademy@gmail.com prior to your first session. We will document your preference and make every reasonable effort to honor it throughout the season.

Communications

Submitting your contact information through any registration form, inquiry, or direct message means you're agreeing to hear from Watz Academy about program-related matters. Think seasonal updates, scheduling, roster announcements, and training opportunities. We keep our communications purposeful and to the point. We have no interest in cluttering your inbox.

If you wish to opt out of non-essential communications, you may do so at any time by emailing us at watzacademy@gmail.com with your request. You will still receive communications that are essential to your enrollment or program participation.

Data Security

We take reasonable and appropriate steps to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Because Watz Academy operates as a boutique program with a limited roster by design, your information is not fed into large automated systems or shared across sprawling databases. It is managed directly and carefully by our staff.

That said, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to contact us directly if you ever have concerns about the safety of your information.

Children's Privacy

The majority of our athletes are minors between the ages of 10 and 15. We are committed to handling their information with the highest standard of care. We collect athlete information only through a parent or legal guardian, and we do not knowingly collect personal data directly from children under the age of 13 without verified parental consent. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us immediately, and we will address it promptly.

Your Rights

If you're a parent, guardian, or adult participant in our programs, you have rights over your personal information. You can request access to what we hold, ask us to correct anything inaccurate, or have your information deleted from our records. Withdrawing consent for communications is also an option at any time. Just contact us at watzacademy@gmail.com, and we'll take care of it promptly.

Updates to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in how we operate or in applicable regulations. When that happens, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date at the top. We recommend checking back at the start of each new season.
